Our philosophy is that by building good client relationships we are able to improve communications and the flow of information between the business and the tax function. It is also important that we build good relationships with HMRC and other advisers to enable us to best serve our clients’ needs.
At CCH & Co. we also appreciate the need to be flexible in the way we go about things. We rely on our clients’ finance functions to provide much of the information we require to perform our work. It is vital therefore that we take account of the many demands placed on these functions and tailor the nature and timing of our information requests accordingly. The more we can do to ease the load on the finance function the easier the process becomes. For example, rather than reviewing capital spend in the profit and loss account on an annual basis we may agree with the Revenue to do it once every three or four years.
Whether we are reviewing corporation tax computations on behalf of the tax department of an MNC or preparing and submitting the computations on behalf of the Finance Director of a large company, we maintain the highest standards. It is essential to get things right first time. The more thought and effort that is put into preparing the tax computation and return the less time, if any, that will be needed in correspondence with the Revenue. Further, with the advent of the Revenue’s new penalty regime in 2009, it will become even more essential for the Finance or Tax Director to have the utmost confidence in the Returns they are signing.
